Cat spey home care

Your cat has been speyed or neutered today. She was given a general anaesthetic and had surgery that involved the removal of both of the ovaries and the uterus. After surgery there will be no more heat periods and your cat cannot have kittens.

After an anaesthetic

  • After a general anaesthetic you pet may be sleepy for 24 hours or so. Make sure you keep her somewhere inside tonight where it is warm and quiet.
  • Feed her only a small amount this evening, about half her normal meal

Strict rest for 5 days is very important

Please contact us if:

  1. She is still sleepy 2 days after the surgery.
  2. If there is any discharge or excessive swelling at the site of the surgery.
  3. She removes any of the sutures or is licking at them.
  4. She refuses to eat or drink after tonight.
