Cat castration home care

Your cat has been castrated today. He was given a general anaesthetic and had surgery to remove both of his testicles.

Your cat after an anaesthetic

After a general anaesthetic your pet may be sleepy for 24 hours or so. Feed your cat only a small amount of food this evening, about one half what he normally eats. Make sure you keep him inside tonight, somewhere where its warm and quiet.

Your cat has no sutures that need removal, no post operative revisits are necessary unless you have any concerns.

Please contact us if

  1. He is still sleepy 2 days after the anaesthetic.
  2. There is any discharge or excessive swelling at the site of the surgery.
  3. He refuses to eat or drink after tonight.
